Halloween Kimono!

What do you get when you cross a wolf, sparrow, and a little imagination! My oldest daughter in her new Halloween Kimono! She loves anything Japanese and after watching "Forbidden Kingdom", she wanted to look like the wolf witch and the girl in the movie "Sparrow". So I put her hair up and painted her face with makeup. She looked so beautiful tonight and I had a very proud moment after making the Kimono and seeing her in it. The hardest part was cutting out the pieces and I didn't have the interfacing the pattern called for, so I had to improvise a little.

The Pumpkins

There are four of us in our family. We each got to carve a pumpkin tonight and let me just say, that big pumpkins take a long time. I was the first to finish mine, which is the smallest of the 4. Mine just has a face, but this year is the 1st year we did not use the pumpkin templates. We decided to stick with good old fashioned imagination!

This next one is my 13 year old's carving of a wolf with wings. It turned out absolutely amazing.

My 6 year old wanted a cat and then she wanted a bat. My husband carved the bat out, which turned out amazing.

After helping our youngest out with her pumpkin, my husband finally got to finish his. I think he likes being the last one to finish because he knows he is going to do a great job on his! LOL

And here is our family of pumpkins all lined up. I spray painted two clay pots black to use as pedastools for the two smaller pumpkins.

Wishing Star Farm (Pumpkin Patch)

Yesterday I took the girls to The Wishing Star Farm & Pumpkin Patch. My younger and I had a blast, while my 13 year old was bummed because she couldn't ride one of the BIG horses!! They had miniature horse rides, a hay ride, farm animals to feed, pumpkins, and the best of all was the Camel. He was so cool and when he ate out of mind hand, his lips were very soft.

The barn had pot belly pigs, sheep, goats, mini horse, a Painted and Appaloosa horses, donkeys, geese, chickens, ducks, llamas, and a mini cow.

Crystal was really excited about riding the ponies. Luckily she had a mellow pony, as the lead pony kept trying to nip the girl that was leading them!! LOL

Here is my 13 year old looking excited about being here!

This is Jim, he drove the tracker for the really cool hay ride. He even put some scare factor in the ride by going on a slight slope next to the small lake they had.

This is some scenery and a horse that ran off when we were about half way away from it. Oh yeah, who can forget the windblown post hay ride picture that the guy next to us would only take if I took one of his wife, child, and himself. I told him to "pass it on!". Which, he probably had no idea as to what it meant.

These are just some random pictures at the end. My camera went dead when I was ready to take pictures of the pumpkin choosing. This really bummed me out, because this is when my 13 year old finally woke up!!

My Halloween House

This is the video I am entering for the Good Morning America's "Home Is Where The Haunt Is" contest. We usually put up ALOT more lights, however, in lieu of increased prices and decreased income, we did not put up as many this year. I still have some more ideas but time is running out. Wish me luck!

My Little Kitty!

Well, times are tough and so is the money coming and going. This year I decided to make my girls their Halloween costumes since we are a little low on funds. My younger daughter was a princess last year and since I still had her costume, I decided to make her a CAT using pieces from it.

I have to say that I was really surprised after making the outfit how well it turned out. I used the sleeves from the old costume and sewed them onto a black leotard outfit. I used the fur collar, and the bottom of the dress, which had a wire.

The collar is pretty obvious, but, the tail was so cool when I finished. I cut the wire and then sewed the fur over so that it would look like a tail. Then I cut a hole in the black leotard and sewed the tail inside, just a little so as not to bother her, and presto-chango! We have what you see in the picture. I also cut some of the left over fur and made anklets that will fit right over her black tights.

I'm not sure what I was thinking, but when I was done, I felt like watching the Broadway video "Cats". LOL. Anyways, my youngest is so excited she can't wait to wear this outfit for Halloween. Stay tuned for the pictures of my oldest and her best friend in their totally HOT Kimonos.

Halloween Treats!

It's almost here, my favorite time of year. Halloween is just around the corner and if you haven't had a chance to check out the many wonderful items for sale on Etsy, now is the time. There are a few pages in the Halloween Gift Guide and I decided to pick some of the my favorites.

I love shadow puppets and orangemoontoys has a set of the perfect Halloween spooky shadow puppets. They come in just black or you can get a set that are colored.

Littledreamsbig has created the cutest little treat bags. They are made with various Halloween material and I just adore them. My favorite one is the one with BOO and ghosts.

I bet you never thought you see Argyle, skulls, and Halloween in the same sentence. This has to be the coolest little monster, created by PoisonedCreations, I have ever seen.

If I had a wish for some more Halloween decorations it would definitely be this cemetery display by crafterella. I really go all out and these would be perfect in my front window.

This psycho killer black and red Halloween wreath by dancingcircle would look awesome hanging on any door.

Get Well Soon!

My husband had his gallbladder removed yesterday, so I thought I would do a post relating to recovery and well wishes for getting well.

TheMidnightOrange has created the ultimate gift for someone in recovery. Check out these Spoons Full of Sugar. A Spoon Full of Sugar is a metaphoric gift to show someone that you are sending the sweetest thoughts their way while they are sick or ill. The gesture helps to ease the mental discomfort associated with sickness, whether someone is just getting over a cold or bug, or has a longer road to treatment and recovery.

I love this plush uterus by VulvaLoveLovely and it reminded me of my friend, who is currently recovering from having fibroids removed yesterday from her uterus. This plush sports a Band-Aid, stitches and a cast.

How clever is this wooden card made out of craft sticks. Each card is drawn and colored by hand denisesimon and comes in a clear envelope with a sticker to write "to" and "from".

Next time I am shopping for a get well card, I know I will be shopping at QweenDavia. This little dog card is the cutest and it will work for just about anyone since the colors are neutral.

At first I couldn't imagine why anyone would wear these cute little Get Well Soon Ponytail Holders. Then I started thinking of Children's Hospital and how they would fit in just perfectly. ButtonBoutique has such a creative imagination and I simply adore these.

Black and Orange by the Pagans of Etsy Street Team!

I need to point out that poetsummer is NOT a member of our street team, however, she has awesome stuff. I would like to take this opportunity to support and expose the wonderful people in my Pagans of Etsy Team. We have extremely talented people so this post is dedicated to them.

Check out this Halloween Witch Button Bracelet by poetsummer. I love the buttons she uses and I actually have some for myself!!

Hang this around your neck for Halloween but don't become the skeleton!! Moonlitbeadery is very creative and I love that this is so simple and fun.

This has got to be my absolutely favorite thing that I have seen so far for Halloween from our group. Vermorlian has handmade this entire Samhain/Halloween Altar Set. If I could afford it right now it would so be mine!

Black cats are always related to Halloween and unfortunately not always treated well around this time. As I have 2 black cats, I love this photo by SusanSee called Curio Paw.

I love this beautiful hand drawn piece called Bewitched by ElsyianFields. Does anyone know why a witch sits side saddle on a broom? There is a reason for it.

I Love Lavender

These cards, by peaceofpi, actually have 1930 German text and I love how the background is lavender.

Is Gracie not the cutest thing you've ever seen? SugarAndSpice made this doll and she loves to go to garden parties.

Check out this beautiful scarf by fringe. I absolutely adore the lavender fringe. What a wonderful winter scarf to go over something professional. Hmmmm….

So purple is my favorite color and lavender is my favorite scent, however, this little guy and his green eyes caught my attention. LittleSockUgghs makes the cutest little Vampire Bat.

HeidisHandmades has come up with the ultimate soap. Lavender, Peppermint, and Shea Butter. I have to get me some of this soap. I need to relax and feel refreshed.

Craving Fall!

Let's hear it for fall! Check out these amazing items.

Alyson123 has definitely captured the longing for Fall in this mixed metal bracelet consisting of brass chain, gold-filled toggle, wire, jump rings and head pins and brass finished pieces. There are three types of brass finished leaves and hammered squares. To add to the autumnal essence, this charm bracelet also includes coffee freshwater pearls, copper Swarovski crystals and smokey quartz briolettes.

I couldn't help but just sit and stare at this awe inspiring picture from RobEastam. The leaves on the ground would fly into the air driving this road. I could imagine the fun and then at the end of the road is a mountain winery.

These ornaments can be used in fall to decorate those by the door trees. What detail starless has in these beautiful ornaments!

These are a gorgeous pair of cruets by MakintheBestOfIt. This set is said to "take you from fall colors through the holiday season." I can totally believe it and I love the leaves that have been painted with a shimmery gold paint to catch the light from any angle.

This is what detail is all about. Check out this fall shimmer tree pendant by shimmerdesignstudios. A pure silver tree trunk adorned with shimmery fall colored beaded branches.
